मीनू सदैव अपनी सहेलियों को यह बताती रहती हैं कि उसे समाज सेवा से बहुत लगाव हैं। उसकी सहेलियों ने पाया कि वह किसी भी समाज कल्याण क्रियाकलापों में सहभागिता नहीं करती। उसकी एक सहेली के पिता एक गैर सरकारी संगठन (एन.जी.ओ.) से संबद्ध हैं तथा वे समाज के गरीब वर्गों के लिए निःशुल्क समाज कल्याण-क्रियाकलाप जैसे मुफ्त कपड़े एवं दवाइयों का वितरण आयोजित करते रहते हैं। मीनू की सहेली ने कई बार एन.जी.ओ. के लिए समय देने हेतु कहा, पर मीनू ने इसमें कोई रुचि नहीं दिखाई। मीनू के व्यवहार के लिए क्या संभावित स्पष्टीकरण दिये जा सकते हैं? मनोवैज्ञानिक तौर पर औचित्य सिद्ध कीजिये।
