Indira Gandhi Canal

Indira Gandhi Canal (formerly called the Rajasthan Canal), which carries water some 400 miles (640 km) from the Beas and Sutlej rivers in Punjab.

The Indira Gandhi Canal (Rajasthan Canal) is the longest canal of India. The origin of this canal is from Harike barrage situated in Punjab.

Yamuna

The Yamuna is the second-largest tributary river of the Ganges by discharge and the longest tributary in India.

Originate from the Yamunotri Glacier on the southwestern slopes of Bandarpunch peaks of the Lower Himalaya in Uttarakhand.

It has a drainage system of 366,223 square kilometres (141,399 sq mi), 40.2% of the entire Ganges Basin. It merges with the Ganges at Triveni Sangam, Allahabad.

It crosses several states: Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, passing by Uttarakhand and later Delhi, and meeting its tributaries on the way, including Tons, Chambal, its longest tributary which has its own large basin, followed by Sindh, the Betwa, and Ken.

From Uttarakhand, the river flows into the state of Himachal Pradesh. After passing Paonta Sahib, Yamuna flows along the boundary of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and after exiting Haryana it continues to flow till it merges with the river Ganges at Sangam or Prayag in Allahbad (Uttar Pradesh).

It helps create the highly fertile alluvial Ganges-Yamuna Doab region between itself and the Ganges in the Indo-Gangetic plain.

Chambal River

The Chambal River is a tributary of the Yamuna River in Central and Northern India, and thus forms part of the drainage system of the Ganges.

The river flows north-northeast through Madhya Pradesh, running for a time through Rajasthan then forming the boundary between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh before turning southeast to join the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh state.

Sutlej

The Sutlej is the longest of the five rivers that flow through the historic crossroads region of Punjab in northern India and Pakistan.

The Sutlej River is also known as Satadru.

It is the easternmost tributary of the Indus River.

The Bhakra Dam is built around the river Sutlej to provide irrigation and other facilities to the states of Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana.

Ghaggar River

The Ghaggar-Hakra River is an intermittent river in India and Pakistan that flows only during the monsoon season.

The river is known as Ghaggar before the Ottu barrage, and as Hakra downstream of the barrage in the Thar Desert.

In pre-Harappan times the Ghaggar was a tributary of the Sutlej.

It is still connected to this paleochannel of the Sutlej, and possibly the Yamuna, which ended in the Nara River, presently a delta channel of the Indus River joining the sea via Sir Creek.

घग्गर-हकरा नदी (Ghaggar-Hakra River) भारत और पाकिस्तान में एक अंतरालिक (intermittent) नदी है जो केवल मानसून के मौसम में बहती है।
