Bellary

Ballari district is rich in natural resources which need to be tapped to a great extent for overall development of the district. This district is endowed with rich mineral resources.

The metallic minerals include iron ore, manganese ore, redoxide, and gold, copper and lead.

The non-metallic minerals include andalusite, asbestos, corundum, clay, dolomite, and limestone, limekankan, moulding sand, quartz, soap stone, granite and red ochre.

The metallic minerals are abundant is only three talukas, Sanduru, Hosapete and Ballari in the order of mining activity intensity.

Ballari to its credit has the second largest single rock mountain in the world.

Didwana

Didwana has been a major trading center in the medieval Mughal Empire due to the famous salt lake here, from which salt has been prepared and sent all over India.

Rampa

Zawar mines in Udaipur district of Rajasthan is the major producer of silver [smelting of galena ore in Hindustan Zinc Smelter].

The Tundoo Lead Smelter in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand is another major silver producer.

Some silver is produced by Kolar Gold Fields and Hutti gold mines.

The Hindustan Copper Ltd. at Maubhandar smelter in Singhbhum district of Jhakhand obtains silver from copper slimes.

Silver is also produced by Vizag Zinc smelter in Andhra Pradesh (Rampa) from the lead concentrates.

राजस्थान के उदयपुर जिले में जावर खदानें (Zawar mines) चांदी का प्रमुख उत्पादक हैं [हिंदुस्तान जिंक स्मेल्टर (Hindustan Zinc Smelter) में गैलेना अयस्क (galena ore) का स्मेल्टिंग (smelting) किया जाता है]।

झारखंड के धनबाद जिले में टुंडू लेड स्मेल्टर (Tundoo Lead Smelter) एक और प्रमुख चांदी उत्पादक है।

कुछ चांदी का उत्पादन कोलार गोल्ड फील्ड्स (Kolar Gold Fields) और हुट्टी गोल्ड माइन्स (Hutti gold mines) द्वारा किया जाता है।
