Directions for the following 4 (four) itmes: Read the following four passages and answer the itmes that follow. Your answer to these items should be based on the passage only.

Passage- 1

Nothing can exist in a natural state which can be called good or bad by common assent, since every man who is in a natural state consults only his own advantage, and determines what is good or bad according to his own fancy and insofar as he has regard for his own advantage alone, and holds himself responsible to no one save himself by any law; and therefore sin cannot be conceived in a natural state, but only in a civil state, which is decreed by common consent what is good or bad, and each one holds himself responsible to the state.

निम्नलिखित 4 (चार) प्रश्नांशों के लिए निर्देश :नीचे दिए गए चार परिच्छेदों को पढ़िए और परिच्छेदों के नीचे आने वाले प्रश्नांशों के उत्तर दीजिए। इन प्रश्नांशों के लिए आपके उत्तर केवल इन परिच्छेदों पर ही आधारित होने चाहिए ।

परिच्छेद-1

नैसर्गिक राज्य में ऐसा कुछ भी विद्यमान नहीं हो सकता, जिसे सामान्य सहमति से अच्छा या बुरा कहा जा सके, क्योंकि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति जो नैसर्गिक राज्य में रहता है, वह केवल अपने ही लाभ का ध्यान रखता है, और अपनी पसंद के अनुसार तथा जहाँ तक कि उसके अपने लाभ का संबंध है, अच्छे या बुरे का निर्णय करता है, और स्वयं को किसी भी विधि (लॉ) के अंतर्गत अपने सिवा अन्य किसी के प्रति उत्तरदायी नहीं मानता है; और इसलिए, नैसर्गिक राज्य में अपराध की कल्पना नहीं की जा सकती, केवल सिविल राज्य में ही ऐसा संभव है, जहाँ सामान्य सहमति से अच्छे या बुरे का निर्णय किया जाता है, और प्रत्येक व्यक्ति स्वयं को राज्य के प्रति उत्तरदायी मानता है।

Option (b) is incorrect because saying ‘no man would be morally right’ is too extreme. Option (c) is incorrect because no such assertion is made in the passage. Option (d) is incorrect because the passage does not tie the survival of human species to the idea of what is right and wrong. Option (a) is correct because the passage talks about conceiving (i.e., creating concept) sin can happen only in a civil state decreed by common consent. Thus, option (a) is correct answer.
