Cabinet Mission 1946

● Cabinet Mission 1946 was the last opportunity to avoid the partition of India with the formation of interim Government. But Muslim League rejected the plan even though they won 73 out of 78 seats in the interim government. They did not attend the first meeting of Constituent Assembly on Dec 9 1946.

● कैबिनेट मिशन 1946 (Cabinet Mission 1946) था भारत के विभाजन को रोकने का अंतिम अवसर अंतरिम सरकार (interim Government) के गठन के साथ। लेकिन मुस्लिम लीग (Muslim League) ने योजना को अस्वीकार कर दिया, भले ही उन्होंने अंतरिम सरकार में 78 में से 73 सीटें जीती थीं। उन्होंने 9 दिसंबर 1946 को संविधान सभा (Constituent Assembly) की पहली बैठक में भाग नहीं लिया।

Cripps Mission:

● Mounting pressure from China and the United States, as well as from the Labour Party in Britain, led Prime Minister Winston Churchill to send Stafford Cripps to India to discuss the Draft Declaration, as settled by the War Cabinet and its Committee between 28 February to 9 March 1942, containing proposals to resolve the Indian question of a new constitution and self-government.

क्रिप्स मिशन

● चीन और संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के साथ-साथ ब्रिटेन में लेबर पार्टी के बढ़ते दबाव के कारण प्रधानमंत्री विंस्टन चर्चिल ने स्टैफोर्ड क्रिप्स (Stafford Cripps) को भारत भेजा ताकि वे 28 फरवरी से 9 मार्च 1942 के बीच युद्ध मंत्रिमंडल और इसकी समिति द्वारा तय किए गए ड्राफ्ट डिक्लेरेशन (Draft Declaration) पर चर्चा कर सकें, जिसमें एक नए संविधान और स्वशासन के भारतीय प्रश्न को हल करने के प्रस्ताव शामिल थे।

The Wavell Plan

● this was first presented at the Shimla Conference in 1945. It was named after Viceroy of India, Lord Wavell. The Shimla Conference was convened in order to agree on the Wavell Plan for Indian self-government, which provided for separate representations on communal lines. Both the plan and the conference failed on account of the Muslim League and the Indian National Congress not coming to an agreement

द वेवेल योजना

● यह पहली बार 1945 में शिमला सम्मेलन (Shimla Conference) में प्रस्तुत किया गया था। यह भारत के वायसराय लॉर्ड वेवेल (Lord Wavell) के नाम पर रखा गया था। शिमला सम्मेलन भारतीय स्वशासन के लिए वेवेल योजना (Wavell Plan) पर सहमति के लिए बुलाया गया था, जो सांप्रदायिक आधार पर अलग-अलग प्रतिनिधित्व प्रदान करता था। मुस्लिम लीग और भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के बीच समझौता न होने के कारण योजना और सम्मेलन दोनों विफल हो गए

CR formula

● The objectives of Rajagopalachari Formula(1944) were to bridges between the Muslims League and Indian National Congress arises due to the difference of opinion on two nation theory and independence of India from British. C. Rajagopalachari was the veteran Congress leader, made a formula for the Indian National Congress and Muslim League cooperation to write off the political deadlock. Formula was supported by M.K Gandhi which was in reality, a silent acceptance of the League’s demand for Pakistan.

o there shall be a Union of India which was to be empowered to deal with the defense, foreign affairs and communications.

o It recommended an undivided India and turned down the Muslim league’s demand for a separate Pakistan. The Cabinet mission restricted the Communal representation

o It provided that all the members of the Interim cabinet would be Indians and there would be minimum interference by the Viceroy.

o Provided for formation of the constituent assembly on democratic principle of population.

o It recognized Indian Right to cede from the Commonwealth.

o The Union Government and its legislature were to have limited powers, dealing with Finance, Foreign Affairs and Communications. The union would have powers necessary to raise the finances to manage the subjects.

o It proposed a weak centre.
