Sex is determined at conception by the combination of X and Y sex chromosomes a baby receives from the egg and the sperm. All eggs contain one X chromosome, while sperm contain either an X chromosome or a Y chromosome.

Embryos with XY chromosomes develop male sex organs, while those with XX chromosomes develop female sex organs. That means the sperm determines a baby’s sex.

The sex of offspring is determined at the time of fertilisation when nucleus present in sperm and ovum fuse to form zygote. The sex of a human baby is determined by the composition of its sex chromosomes (a single distinct pair among humans' 23 pairs of chromosomes).

लिंग निर्धारण

लिंग (Sex) का निर्धारण गर्भाधान (conception) के समय X और Y लिंग गुणसूत्रों (sex chromosomes) के संयोजन द्वारा होता है, जो अंडाणु (egg) और शुक्राणु (sperm) से प्राप्त होते हैं। सभी अंडाणुओं में एक X गुणसूत्र होता है, जबकि शुक्राणुओं में या तो एक X गुणसूत्र या एक Y गुणसूत्र होता है।

XY गुणसूत्रों वाले भ्रूण (embryos) पुरुष जननांग (male sex organs) विकसित करते हैं, जबकि XX गुणसूत्रों वाले भ्रूण महिला जननांग (female sex organs) विकसित करते हैं। इसका मतलब है कि शुक्राणु बच्चे के लिंग का निर्धारण करता है।
